Terms of Service
Version 1.0 · Effective July 2026
1. What GRUDGE is
GRUDGE is a commitment device. You promise a number of qualifying activity sessions per week, you attach a stake, and if you miss the week your squad chooses which organization on your shortlist receives the money. GRUDGE is not a charity, not a broker, and not an escrow agent.
2. No money moves between players
Your stake is never paid to a squad-mate and never held on your behalf. Nothing is collected unless a week is missed and the forfeit resolves. Every collected forfeit, minus the payment processing fee and GRUDGE's 5% stake fee, is sent to the selected recipient organization.
3. Authorization to charge
When you lock a pact you authorize a charge of up to your stated stake per missed week, using the card you have on file. There is no escrow and no pre-authorization hold. Charges are attempted after the appeal and selection windows close.
4. Verification
Weeks are verified from connected Strava activity data only. Activities must be recorded by your device, match your chosen category, fall inside the week window, meet your thresholds, and pass plausibility checks. Deleting an activity at the source removes its credit.
5. Appeals
You have 24 hours after a missed week to appeal to your squad. A majority excuse clears the week. GRUDGE support may override an outcome in cases of clear error, fraud, or a verified platform outage.
6. Fees and billing
Your first billing cycle is free. After that GRUDGE costs $9.99 per month. A 5% stake fee accrues on each week you run, whether you pass or miss, and is billed monthly on the same invoice. Recipient organizations receive the forfeit, not the fee.
7. Recipient organizations
Organizations named in the catalog are potential donation recipients only. They are not affiliated with GRUDGE, have not endorsed GRUDGE, and receive funds as ordinary donations. Payouts are aggregated and only sent once an organization's balance clears the minimum disbursement floor.
8. Refunds
Forfeits are not refundable once sent to a recipient. If a charge is collected in error and has not yet been disbursed, contact support and we will reverse it.
9. Eligibility and health
You must be 18 or older. GRUDGE sets behavior goals only — never weight, body composition, or calorie targets. GRUDGE is not medical advice. Stop and seek care if an activity hurts you; that is what appeals are for.
10. Account locks
If a forfeit charge fails, we retry at 24 and 72 hours. After the final attempt, new pacts are paused until the balance is settled. Existing weeks continue to be evaluated.
